September 17 – Red&Gold Football, the joint venture between Bundesliga champions FC Bayern München and Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC) that is focused on developing young talent, has announced a new strategic partnership with Jeju SK FC of South Korea’s K League.
The partnership will establish clearly defined player pathways between South Korea (K-League), European football, and Major League Soccer.
The partnership will see an exchange of coaching expertise and the introduction of a scouting system at Jeju SK FC, while providing opportunities for young Korean players to train in both Europe and the United States.
This alignment reflects the growing understanding that the South Korean football market is a football powerhouse, with the likes of Min-jae Kim and Heung-min Son giving the country a turbo-boost in recognition.
Both Bayern and LAFC have already benefited from working with Korean talent, and this agreement is all about cultivating the next generation.
“South Korea is an important market for us. FC Bayern and LAFC have gained valuable experience with Korean players. Min-jae Kim and Heung-min Son are just the most well-known examples. Together with Jeju SK FC, we want to nurture a new generation of talent. We sincerely thank the club management for their trust,” said Jochen Sauer, managing director of Red&Gold Football.
For South Korean players, it creates a direct pathway to two of the most competitive football environments in the world.
