Macedo de Medeiros seeks third term as SIGA’s global CEO

January 30 – Emanuel Macedo de Medeiros, co-founder of the Sport Integrity Global Alliance (SIGA) and its current global chief executive officer, has submitted his re-candidacy for the position of SIGA Global CEO for the 2026–2030 term.

SIGA will also be electing in Ethics Committee and Audit & Compliance committee for the same term. The deadline for the submission of candidacies is March 11.

If elected, this term would represent his third and final mandate as SIGA Global CEO, following his election by the SIGA Council and General Assembly in 2018 and 2022.

De Medeiros has long been a strident voice in the sports integrity space and his election platform follows his familiar theme of “delivery, accountability, and decisive action in advancing sport integrity worldwide”.

He emphasised that “challenges in global sport arise from choices made or choices avoided” and that “real progress depends on embedding integrity at the heart of governance and organisational culture”.

He said his candidacy is a pledge to “deliver SIGA’s reform agenda, strengthen transparency and accountability, and establish lasting standards of integrity across the sport ecosystem”. He also called on the broader sporting community – including sports bodies, governments, international organisations, global business, and civil society – to assume responsibility and actively contribute to a “culture of integrity and accountability in Sport”.

The SIGA Council vote will take place on March 16, followed by the convening of the SIGA General Assembly to ratify the results on March 26.
