With 3.73 million viewers tuning in, the 2-1 Mexican win was the highest English-language audience for a Gold Cup final in the network’s history.

Nine matches finished as a draw. In the quarter finals three of the four match-ups were decided by a penalty shoot-out.

The increase in playing standards across the region has been attributed to the increased number of competitive international players nations play in the Concacaf Nations League.

The USA scored took an early lead in the 4th minute with a goal from Chris Richards, but Mexico regained parity 20 minutes later through Raul Jimenez in a match they dominated in front of their baying support.
