February 17 – German football fans are getting a closer look at a competition that is rapidly going global.
German broadcaster Sportdigital has secured a rights package for North America’s Concacaf Champions Cup, underlining the growing international pull of the confederation’s flagship club tournament. The deal allows the broadcaster to air up to 15 matches of the 51-game knockout competition, exclusively on its Sportdigital1+ pay-TV channel.
Coverage begins with Canada’s Vancouver Whitecaps and Costa Rica’s CS Cartaginés – a matchup featuring former Bayern Munich and Germany legend Thomas Müller, who joined Whitecaps last year.
He is far from the only familiar figure for German audiences. The expanded tournament is also features Germany international Marco Reus (LA Galaxy), German-born MLS star Hany Mukhtar (Nashville SC), and former Bundesliga names Sebastian Schonlau, Erik Thommy and Son Heung-min.
“With the CONCACAF Champions Cup, we have added another premium right to our extensive and high-class international football portfolio,” said Sportdigitalmanaging director Bendix Eisermaann.
The deal also builds on an existing relationship with Concacaf, following Sportdigital’s coverage of the 2025 Gold Cup, and reflects how the competition’s profilehas been boosted by MLS growth and global player movement.
