CS Cartaginés (Costa Rica)

CS Cartaginés represents one of Costa Rica’s historic football institutions as they prepare for the 2026 Concacaf Champions Cup. A club steeped in tradition, Cartaginés earned their place in the continental tournament through strong domestic showings and success in regional qualification pathways.

While they might lack the star power of bigger clubs, their tactical discipline can frustrate stronger sides and create opportunities in transitional phases.

Coached by the well traveled Argentine, Andrés José Carevic Ghelfi, opponents can expect, disciplined defending aligned with lightning counter-attacks.

Their small compact stadium, Estadio Jose Rafael Fello Meza Ivankovich, known locally as the “Fello” provides a white-hot atmosphere that can unsettle even the best of teams.

As Cartaginés steps onto the continental stage, their blend of Costa Rican football culture and collective determination positions them as a tough opponent in Round One. Their campaign will test whether domestic success can translate to consistent results against teams from larger leagues, but history suggests they are well‑versed in adapting tactically to varied opponents.
